Hope is the thing with Feathers...

Hi everyone! Ahh, I have so missed stamping the last few days. All of my posts last week were scheduled because my mom was having surgery and staying with us while she recovers some so this weekend was SO busy!! Her surgery went fine and she is ready to go home..lol..but I think that's because I will not do what she says! haha...

Anyway, today's card features this month's first Verve sketch for April. The sketch is brought to us by Amber Hight. It has so many cool little panels...so much fun to use!

I am also using the color scheme from this week's CR84FN challenge.

I love these colors together. They're so woodsy to me. I decided not to go with a masculine card because I wanted to use my newest Verve Plain Jane, "Hope Perches". Emily Dickinson is my all time favorite poet, so as soon as I saw they were releasing this I knew that I had to have it. The entire poem is lovely.

So, here is my card:

I just love this card for all of the panels. This was a great sketch. It was fun to use the different papers and textures with this. I added the Papertrey images of the birdcage and bird from "Love Birds". I thought it went perfectly with the Verve sentiment.

Last week, I got a great little surprise in the mail from my friend, Teresa. She sent me a package full of goodies...brads and bling, papers, fabrics, seam binding..just tons of way cool stuff. She is SO very sweet!  The brad on the ribbon and the floral paper are both from my gift! :)

Well, that's it from me. I will leave you guys with the "Hope is the thing with Feathers" poem in its entirety! :)  Thanks for stopping by!

Hope is the thing with feathers
That perches in the soul,
And sings the tune without the words,
And never stops at all,

And sweetest in the gale is heard;
And sore must be the storm
That could abash the little bird
That kept so many warm.

I've heard it in the chilliest land
And on the strangest sea;
Yet, never, in extremity,
It asked a crumb of me.

CupCards {to go} Kit Release day!

Hi everyone!  Well, it's April 1st and tonight starting at 9pm ET/ 6pmPT the April kits from CupCards {to go} will be live and on sale! This is my first time working with a kit and it has been a joy. Pretty much everything you need to create fabulous cards and projects - all coordinated for you! That's the best part. This month, they have some really pretty papers and ribbons and you guys know how much I love patterned paper and ribbon!

Right now, though, I am showing you a couple of the cards that I showed you earlier this week in "sneaks". This first one is my very favorite card. Everything you see here is from the kit except the Pure Inocence stamp and the bling!

I just love love love that patterned paper and it matches the ricrac style ribbon perfectly! I am not sure I have ever used these colors outside of a Christmas card, but doesn't it just look so cute here with this paper? Just adorable. That sentiment (y'all know how I love sentiments!) is actually an SRM sticker that is included in the kit along with many more.

My next card is a MUCH brighter card than the first, and quite frankly VERY much out of my comfort zone, but when I saw the papers I just had to make something with it.

Isn't it SO fun? Oh, I just adore those little birds on there! The sentiment is another SRM sticker from the kit as is the patterned paper.  I added a diecut using one of the newest sets from Papertrey Ink, Sending You, and I was all done. Quick and easy peasy! I used the sketch from the CupCards {to go} blog, seen here:

That's all I have for today. Come back over the weekend, when I will show you a few more cards you can make using the April kit from CupCards {to go}!!

Happy Grad!

Hi everyone! Well, today is bittersweet for me. It is my very last week as Guest Designer for Color Throwdown. It has been nothing short of a joy to work with the design team. They've been so nice to me and I have truly enjoyed being a part of the team. I totally can see how much work goes into hosting a challenge like this and they have my respect for that! Thank you guys for having me along for the ride!! I can stay if you need me to! LOL  ;)

Ok, so here are the colors for this week brought to use by Barbara!

I love these colors especially cream with red and black. White, not so much. Cream just is so much richer than white and looks better with the other two colors to me. So, I thought I would do a graduation card because it is just about that time of year!

Here is my card:

I used the book print dsp from SU and thought it was a good idea since you do tend to read a lot in college..high school, too! It's sort of like you're tearing your book to shreds never to look at one again. Of course, we all know (well all of us who love reading) that's not how it goes. I guess it's better reading when you want to read than when you have to..lol.

I hope you will stop by the other DT members blogs and see what they've created with this color combo. And then stop by the Color Throwdown blog and play along with us this week!  Thank you for stopping by!!

Gratitude...

Hello! Thanks for stopping by this fine Monday! It's a tad chilly here, and I am ready for Spring, but a grande White Chocolate Mocha with a shot of Peppermint is in my immediate future so i'll deal. :)

Today I have another card from this month's Verve sketches. This is the week 5 sketch and it was designed by Sankari!!

I couldn't help but use my new Papertrey stamps. I just love the Sending You set. As you know, I am all about the sentiments, but the flowers in this set are what really grabbed me and pulled me in. Here is my card:

I used more of my Salt Air paper from Cosmo Cricket and I love the way the black works with this kinda funky green and cream color.

Well, that's it from me. Thank you for stopping by!

So Blessed...

Good morning everyone! I hope you guys have had a great weekend! I have pretty much rested and recouped from vacation, and I'm just about ready to head back to work tomorrow. :)

Today, I am using the week 4 Verve sketch for March. Jackie created the sketch and I love love love it. Feeds right into my square card obsession. Here is the sketch:

I needed a thank you card and wanted it to be a little funky for the recipient, so here is what I made:

Honestly, I adore these Cosmo Cricket papers. I do , I do, I do! This one is called Salt Air and it has bunches of cool patterns and colors. I thought this paper used a wonderfully bright, but funky, combo! I don't know that I would WEAR these colors together, but I sure do like looking at them. :)

Thanks for stopping by and if you get a chance, stop over and play with the Verve sketches!

CupCards {to go} Sneak #2

Hello! This is my second post today! I posted my FYI challenge earlier. :)

I'm back with another sneak peek at one of my cards using the April Kit over at CupCards {to go}. Don't forget, the kit goes on sale this Friday!!!

I think this card is my favorite of all. I can't wait for you to see them AND to see the kit. It is really fabulous!

Dreams Believed..

Hello and Happy Saturday! I am back from Los Angeles and boy did I miss home. I'm obviously not a big city girl even though I spent the first part of my life in Chicago. I just love the quiet, the open spaces, and the people of Tennessee. :)

Anywho, I am back today with another FYI Challenge card. Did you guys see that I won the first challenge? I was totally stoked. See my blinkie on the left? heehee. It was a great challenge, so I am playing again. You should head over there and take a peek. It really is a cool challenge and because it's an inspiration photo, you are not limited by colors or a sketch - only by your imagination.

So, here is this week's inspiration photo:

Isn't that lovely? The moment I saw it, I thought of graduation. You're looking out on your future. It's so vast and unknown..and all yours. The sky is the limit really right after college, right? It feels like you could do anything and go anywhere...and you can! That's the beauty of it. :)  So, the picture brought that to mind and here is what I was inspired to create:

I embossed the background and also the graduation cap.  Here is a closer picture of that part:

I tried to incorporate the "cloudy" nature of the photo on the sentiment panel, also. So..that's all I have. I have been stamping since I woke up this morning, so I have lots to show y'all in the next few days. :)  Thanks for stopping by..Laters!
