With Sympathy

Good Sunday to you all. Today, I am back with a sympathy card for a friend of ours who lost their 16 year old son last week. It has been such a shock and so sad. He was such a healthy and active kid, but somehow his heart and organs just gave out and before he could get a heart transplant, he died.

So, this is the card I made for them. I used this week's Retro Sketch, seen here:

And here is my card:

I used the Life is Beautiful dies from Papertrey Ink, and a sentiment from Out on a Limb, also from Papertrey Ink. The patterned paper is from SU. Thanks for stopping by!

Strength

Hello. I had to make a sympathy card for a friends of mine who lost her mother suddenly. There are my least favorite cards to do - as I am sure they are yours as well. Anyway, no challenges or color combos here...just a card from the heart.

See you soon..

Make it Monday

Hello! This is my second post for the day. I wanted to play along with this weeks Make it Monday challenge over on Nicole Heady's blog.

This weeks challenge was to emboss in layers. So embossing over embossing. I have a very limited supply of embossing powders, so I knew pretty quickly that it was going to be clear, white, and/or black...lol. I thought I would try my hand at a sympathy card. Here are my results:

I am also using this card for this weeks JUGS color challenge

I love these colors together! Have a great Monday!

thoughts..

FINALLY....finally my mojo is back and life has settled down enough to stamp again. My husband is home and reintegration has been...difficult. I guess the older your children are, the harder it is for things to get back to normal. Ugh..

Anyway, I am back and have been stamping all morning! Yay! Today, I have a card for this week's Colour Q! Here are the colors for this week:

Neat colors, huh? Orchid Opulence was always one of my favorite SU colors. I decided to use one of my new Market Street Stamps that arrived a little over a week ago. It's called Comforting Florals and I absolutely adore the image of this vase and flower combo. Here is my card:

I added Crystal Effects to mimic water...in person, it's really cool. Well, I better get back to the family. Thanks for stopping in!!

With Sympathy

Hi All. Quick post today. As you may know, my daughter Ava has severe allergies and eczema that has really gotten bad the last few months. This week, she is almost unable to move due to the tightness and rawness of her skin. It's been a very frustrating few days of doctor visits, creams, steroids, and so on and so forth.

I did manage to get in a few minutes of crafty time. I wanted to participate in Laurie's Pinterest challenge and also this week's Make it Monday over at Papertrey which was to make a sympathy card.

Here is the Pinterest item that caught my eye:

And here is my card:

I really liked the earthy nature of the picture. It's so "me". My friends try to make me go with color in my clothes, but I am pretty much always Neutral Nancy. :)  It's just me.

Well, I better get back to Ava.  If you think about it, please pray that her symptoms subside. She has exams this week at school (albeit middle school exams) and I really want her brain there for the tests. Dealing with tight immobile skin isn't very 'school friendly' either.  Also, if you have any experiences with eczema and have any advice to offer, please do!!!

May hope sustain you...

Hello! Happy Friday! We leave for Los Angeles tomorrow afternoon and I am beyond excited! I have scheduled some blog posts, so do stop by! I'll more than likely be checking my Reader, too, so don't be surprised to see me stop in to say hi to some of y'all!! Hopefully, though, we'll be having so much fun, I won't have the time.

So, today's card is a sympathy card I made for a colleague. His mother died this week, and my boss said, "Hey, can you run up to Target and get a card?". To which I replied, "You mean, go home and make one?". :) So, though sympathy cards are my least favorite to make, this one was made easier by using this month's Diva Dare. Click on the link for more info if you're unaware of the challenge. The gist of it is that each month one of the Diva's will issue a challenge and we have a week in which to answer the challenge. This month, Tosha Leyendekker issued the challenge to make a card that was mostly neutral with a splash of color to represent the arrival of Spring.

So, here is my card:

I just love that Brenda Walton paper. The card just came together so quickly because the paper is just so lovely that I could just add a wee bit of stamping and ribbon (ok, and scallops) and call it a day. Perfect!

I hope you'll play along with the challenge. It's super fun AND there are amazing prizes awarded!!! Check it out!

Stamps: Forever in our Hearts (Verve)
Card Stock: Kraft, Lavender Moon (Papertrey); Early Espresso (SU); Brenda Walton paper pad
Ink: Chocolate Chip (SU)
Extras: Early Espresso satin ribbon (SU); Button (Papertrey)

Peace...

Hello! Happy Tuesday. Having a good week? Realizing yet that Thanksgiving is a little over two weeks away? Ack!! That means a little over two weeks AND one day till Black Friday. Woot Woot! I totally can't wait.  My mom, Ava, and I -and usually my MIL if she comes up which she isn't this year :( - head out around 2am to get to the stores. I don't necessarily LIKE to shop, and I usually don't ever make any Christmas purchases at the stores on Black Friday, but it's sort of fun to be out and about while people are going nutso! lol. I try to do most of my Christmas shopping online. It's easy peasy lemon squeazy and I can do it in PJ's...although now that I think about it, a lot of the people I see out shopping on Black Friday still have THEIR pajamas on. :)

Ok, but you didn't come to hear my Black Friday stories! I had to make a sympathy card for my Boss' Boss. He lost his father in law last week and this is the card we are sending to him. I mostly used this week's Mojo Monday sketch, seen here:

Here is my card:

I really love the colors together and making the background on the left side (from your perspective) of the card was fun. I used my "Timeless Textures" set from Skipping Stones. Using "Forever in our Hearts" from Verve was a no brainer. It's a beautiful set with lovely sentiments. I decided to forego the square lattice folder in favor of the vintage wallpaper fold from SU for the black panel. I know y'all are proud of me..lol.

Well, that's it from me. Have a wonderful day. Come back tomorrow for my 2S4Y card! Laters!

Stamps: Forever in our Hearts (Verve); Timeless Textures (Skipping Stones)
Card Stock: Black, Vanilla (Papertrey); Old Olive (stampin up)
Ink: Black (stampin up); Versamark
Extras: Black embossing powder, pearls, ribbon, and Vintage Wallpaper folder (stampin up)

You make me smile...

Hello and Happy Wednesday! I hope you're all having a great week. I made today's card and I *think* I may have my mojo back. It all fell together quite nicely once I got started. The loosely sketch follows this weeks Mojo Monday sketch, seen here:

I tried to stay exact with the sketch, but it just worked better this way. Hope that's okay! :)

Here is my card:

Here is a closeup of the ladybug spots. I added crystal effects to them.

More crystal effects on the flowers, too!

I also have another card to show you that. Yep, that's right...tonight's a two-fer!

I made this card for a friend who has lost an aunt unexpectedly, not too long after losing both parents. Ugh..it's just a really difficult situation. :(

It doesn't fit within any challenges or anything...I just made it with my heart.

Ok, well that's all from me tonight. Hope you are having a great day. Get some rest - tomorrow night is the Papertrey release for October! Woot!

Wishing you strength...

Hi everyone! Hope you're having a wonderful day! Today's card is a sympathy card. I know everyone hates making them, but they're a necessity sometimes.

I am not sure that it screams sympathy until you read the words, but I think I like it. It's for the friends of ours who lost their son. They're doing well, in case you were wondering, and are dealing with it day by day. Thanks for all of your concern over the last few days...and your prayers or words of support for all involved. :)

One more thing..I have been trying to reach out and try more stamp companies. Last week, I was on Julee Tilman's blog. I'm not sure how I got there..probably through another blog (you know how that goes) and saw some Verve stuff and immediately fell in love! I went straight to their site (shopverve.com) and bought some stuff. This card uses the first of my purchases. I can already tell  you that their stuff really rocks! And listen to this (um..or read this, I should say), I bought these stamps on Friday night/ Saturday morning...and they arrived TODAY!!! What is THAT about?!?! I was stoked to see that package in the mail today. Really cool...ok, enough fawning over Verve. hee hee...

Card Stock: Soft Suede (stampin up); Vanilla, Black (papertrey); Unknown patterned paper
Ink: Black, a mix between Close to Cocoa and Always Artichoke on the flower (stampin up)
