Masculine Schmasculine...

Ok, so all week I've been seeing folks update their blogs with masculine cards. I needed one, so I thought i'd take a crack at it. I'm not a girly girl in real life. Well, ok...I'm kind of a prima donna, but not in a girly frilly kind of way.Ha ha! My cards are also pretty straightforward. Not a lot of frills and things. You'll never see lace or anything like that, so one would think that a masculine card would be easy for me. It is SO not. I just freeze and everything I pick up is too frilly! It's nuts. Anyway, this is a card I made for my cousin who is turning 24 next week. It's not the most masculine of cards, but I don't have any masculine sets really. I've been putting off getting Men of Life and/or Masculine Motifs (I guess it's time to get those!), so I had to go with Enjoy the Ride. I used the Tim Holtz distressing ink for the car to try and make it look old, but I think it just looks rusty! I also used some of that ink on the vanilla panel and Fresh Snow ink on the edges of the main card. It's a fun card, but again I used patterned paper as my crutch. That whole patterned part is one sheet of paper. I think this whole flood thing is still messing with my brain cause I'm not 100% into anything I'm doing right now. Ugh! Anyway, so here is the card.

I like the way it turned out, but it's time to focus on certain needs instead of just stuff I think is pretty. Needs like Sympathy, Get Well, Masculine, etc.  I bought For the Graduate for a family member who is graduating next week, so you'll see that card soon. Ok, well they're waiting for me on the lanai. Ok, we live in Tennessee so it's the patio. Lanai just sounded fancier.lol. Time to grab some fruit and cheese and chillax for a bit. Take care! And thanks for stopping in!

Well, I love me some houndstooth, so I can't help but like this card, Keva! I think the VW works in that rusty-distressed sort of way, and the color scheme is perfect for a masculine card! Good job! I've been praying for you & your family in all the flooding, and am glad to see that you guys came through blessed!

Great masculine card! I like how you mixed all the patterns, but kept the color scheme more manish!

O.K., so I got excited and commented before I read the whole post. Still, I like the patterned paper you used and the "rusty" car looks cool.

Oooooh I just LOVE your paper mix behind the car! That is sooooo yummy! And I think the colour of the car is perfect with it - darker would have looked boring and lighter could have looked too delicate! Great Job!

HAhaha You crack me up Keva! Reading your posts is like a movie of your brain and your thoughts. I love it, but I can't keep up! The "lanai" thing is hysterical!
The card: guy cards ARE hard, that's why there seems to be a niche and people are challenging themselves to make them. I don't think your car looks rusty, it's great and I LOVE that PP BG.
I will admit that it's not screaming guy at me, but it is most definitely NOT frilly and girly, so I think it's pretty darn good for a first try! Can I pretend to be a guy and you mail it to me? Please? lol

Give yourself some credit, girl! This is a great card. I think it is masculine enough... the PP reminds me of manly roads! and your car does NOT look rusty. It is a bright, happy and totally guy card that I think is fantastic!
